GRAYSON

Meet Grayson: Professional introvert, food enthusiast, and trail explorer/part time bunny.

Let’s get this out of the way… Grayson is NOT a snuggler. He will not smother you with kisses. He will not insist on being your shadow. He believes in personal space and healthy boundaries. To be honest, he could teach us humans a thing or two.

What he does believe in:
• Dinner time (his favorite holiday)
• Other dogs (his absolute bread and butter)
• Long hikes where no one tries to hug him (seriously, same)

Grayson is a nervous dog who needs time to warm up, but he’s incredibly sweet in his own quiet way. He’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply, just not loudly.

He might be perfect for:
• A true “dog person” who understands shy dogs, respects boundaries, and can let Grayson be… Grayson.
• OR a non dog person.  Maybe you desire companionship without the suffocation.  Just someone to get you out for a walk and keep you honest.

Grayson thrives with other dogs.  They really are the one thing he trusts 100% in this life.  He may hang around the house with his tail tucked most of the day but man oh man, when he gets a second of space with a furry companion, BOOM! He’s off to the races hopping, sprinting, galloping, tail-wagging and just having the time of his life.  This sight may also be seen when his dinner is being prepared or he’s starting a walk.

Grayson is cat friendly, dog friendly, house broken, and crate trained. No children as they are sure to put too much stress on him.

Grayson will require a fenced-in yard as he is very much a flight risk. He is a 50 lb lean mixed breed, about 2 years old, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations.

So, do you need a pal to hike mountains with or just keep your walks regular?  A dog who isn’t going to be up in your business?  A companion for your current dog?  Grayson has a heart of gold and deserves a quiet home with a patient person for when he does come around, it is the most beautiful feeling to have become a safe space for him.

DARLA JEAN

Meet Darla Jean: Playful, lovable, full time doofus and part time weighted blanket.

This girl... I could go on for days. Darla has a STRONG personality. The endearing type. If you've owned a girl dog before you know what I'm talking about. The "Let's do everything but try it MY way first!" attitude. Which means she constantly cracks you up. She came with a solid foundation from a board and train and she's definitely in the stage where she has calmed down and is REALLY taking to training and loves it. She has been practicing "back", "sit", and "wait". This happens when I am entering her room and when she is being fed. Within just a few days she was backing herself up and sitting before the command. She is showing such a strong ability to bond with her person/trainer which pairs exceptionally with her food motivation. She really is just such a joy to train with and be around.

Besides all the good training stuff, she is an absolute love. Her hug on command will melt your heart and the way she gushes over the cat can stop you in your tracks. She's been bonding heavily with our playful male Grayson and loves running and playing chase with him. Girl dogs are a bit of a power struggle for her so I would recommend male dogs. NO KIDS as she is just too big/strong/and carefree. (I have ended up with bruises while playing haha). Absolutely would love a home with dog savvy cats!

If you are interested in Darla, please reach out. She is such an incredible dog with a real zest for life. From being dumped in a ditch, to immediate reactivity in a shelter environment, to being a wiggly, squishy, love bug under my roof. I can't wait for her forever family to find her. Darla is up for adoption through AGAINST ALL ODDZ ANIMAL ALLIANCE and is not a Trash to Treasure Dog! (Well she is… we’re fostering her and she has lived here for months hehe) But she will be officially adopted out through AAOAA.

Please reach out directly to us if you have any questions as we know her best or visit https://www.againstalloddzaa.org to apply to adopt Darla.

GYPSY

Meet Gypsy: Equal parts fun, sassy, and full of life!

At around a year old, Gypsy is a stunning Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with a personality as bold as her coat.

Gypsy didn’t get the best start and is still learning what it truly means to be a dog.  After being found in a yard playing with some resident dogs, the humans called around and eventually found Gypsy’s home.  They drove over to let them know this sweet girl was found safe and sound only to be met with “We know! We don’t want her! We dumped her ON PURPOSE!”  Diaboloical behavior coupled with absolute mistreatment of this dog brought her into rescue and we couldn’t be happier to have been able to save this sweet life.  Gypsy is suffering with skin issues that cover most of her body, tons of hair loss, and malnourishment due to neglect.  We are well on our way to recovery and she has been an absolute trooper through it all but she will need time to gain back her stunning coat and a few pounds.  We don’t think Gypsy has had much, if any real interactions with humans.  While she absolutely loves everyone she meets, she doesn’t know much for boundaries yet.  She is practicing keeping all 4 paws on the ground, not playing with her mouth, and the act of “doing nothing”.  She is doing amazing so far and is transforming into a well rounded, 4 legged bestie!

Gypsy is dog friendly and human friendly.  She has done well so far with short interactions with cats and doesn’t seem bothered with them.  We are unsure about kids but she does have lots of energy.  She is potty trained and crate trained.  At this time, Gypsy is Foster only or Foster-to-Adopt as we work through her skin issues and get her spayed.
